BINSON ECHOREC
DRUM DELAY
The Legendary Drum Delay Reborn
It’s not easy to reinvent forgotten technology — but some machines deserve a second life.
After years of research, engineering, and countless tests, T-Rex has recreated the legendary Binson Echorec, faithfully bringing back the magnetic drum delay that defined the sound of the 1950s and beyond.
Known for its use by David Gilmour, Hank Marvin, and countless studio pioneers, the Echorec isn’t just an effect.
It’s an instrument — one that shapes melodies, creates atmosphere, and adds a space around your sound that words can’t describe.
Rediscovering Forgotten Technology
The original Echorec, designed by Professor Bonfiglio Bini in the 1950s, used a rotating magnetic drum instead of tape to record and reproduce sound.
Each unit had its own voice — its own flutter, warmth, and feedback behavior.
At T-Rex, we studied and restored vintage machines for years, then built our own custom alloy drum to perfectly capture that organic response.
The result is a delay that feels alive, distinct, and truly musical.
A Living, Breathing Delay
Unlike conventional delay pedals, the Echorec reacts like an instrument.
A single note can unfold into melodies, harmonics, and textures that evolve in real time.
The four playback heads allow you to select individual echoes or create lush swells and rhythmic patterns that breathe with your playing.
Modern Refinement
While staying true to the spirit of the original, we made key improvements:
Drum speed adjustment ±20% — reach new pitches and rhythmic variations never possible before
Reduced mechanical noise for a cleaner, more stable sound
Custom-engineered drum alloy for consistent magnetic response and durability
Balanced studio outputs for direct recording and live use
Every unit is handcrafted in Denmark, built to last — a sustainable instrument designed for a lifetime of inspiration.
The Delay That Will Outlive You
The Binson Echorec was born in an era of experimentation and elegance — and now, it returns with new life.
It’s designed for guitarists, producers, and sound explorers who seek more than repeats — who want the space, movement, and emotion that only a true drum delay can deliver.
The Echorec is more than an effect.
It’s the umami of your sound — that elusive quality you can’t define, only feel.
